Leon Ung is a 14-year-old British actor, dancer, model, and gymnast renowned for his diverse talents and compelling performances. Born to Cambodian and Indian parents, Leon’s rich cultural heritage has significantly influenced his artistic journey. 

Early Life and Background

Growing up in London, Leon was deeply inspired by his family’s remarkable history. His father’s experiences as a refugee from Cambodia, fleeing the Khmer Rouge regime, have profoundly shaped Leon’s perspective on resilience and empathy. This personal connection to his heritage has fueled his passion for storytelling and advocacy. 

Dance and Performance Achievements

Leon has established himself as a formidable presence in the UK’s dance scene. In 2022, he achieved the extraordinary feat of becoming a Triple Champion at the UK Street Dance Championships, securing first place in all breaking categories: 12U, 16U, and Adults. His versatility extends beyond breakdancing; he is proficient in various dance forms, including street dance, Bhangra, and contemporary styles. 

Acting Career

Leon made a notable entry into acting with his role as Nas in the Oscar-winning short film “The Long Goodbye” (2020), directed by Riz Ahmed and Aneil Karia. He further showcased his versatility in “Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical” (2022), portraying one of Matilda Wormwood’s classmates. In the upcoming film “Animal” (2023), Leon takes on the role of young Bobby Deol, underscoring his expanding repertoire in international cinema. 

Advocacy and Personal Projects

Beyond his artistic endeavors, Leon is a passionate advocate for refugee rights. Collaborating with the Refugee Council charity, he created a poignant film conveying messages of compassion and understanding for refugees.
